I've spent over 30 years working across administration, personal assistance, business management, and project management in some demanding environments, including the NHS, government, and private sector organisations spanning IT, engineering, management consulting, and accountancy. I know how to get things done, how to build systems that actually hold up under pressure, and how to support the people around me so they can focus on what they do best.

I set up Sam Barratt Business Solutions after redundancy, but if I'm honest, it had been on my mind since 2010. I've always been drawn to the operational side of things, the processes, the structure, the satisfaction of making something work properly. Redundancy gave me the push I needed, and the chance to build something around my own priorities, including being present for my child.

What started as a VA business quickly grew into something broader. After a year, it became clear that I had the skills, qualifications, and experience to offer more strategic support, and that's where the OBM side of the business came in. I'm not just someone who clears your inbox. I can take ownership of your operations, manage your projects, build your systems, and give you the kind of oversight that means things don't fall apart when you're not looking.

The safeguarding consultancy is something I feel strongly about. I hold a Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead qualification and I'm safer recruitment trained. I work with dance schools, tutors, and children's activity providers who want to get their safeguarding right, not just tick a box, but genuinely protect the children in their care. Every child deserves to be safe, supported, and given the chance to reach their full potential. That belief sits behind everything I do in this area.
